Why World Ocean Day is Important
Our oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface and are essential for life on Earth. They regulate the climate, provide us with oxygen, and are a significant source of food and employment. However, pollution, overfishing, and climate change are putting immense pressure on our oceans. It is crucial that we take steps to protect these valuable ecosystems.
